EXL: Friday brought walk-off for Draci and dominant win for Arrows
After a bye-week for Prague Baseball Week, Extraliga continued with two games on Friday. The games looked rather different from one another, but each time it was the home team who celebrated the win.
Ostrava shocked their opponent, leading 9-0 after three innings. Michael Vykoukal had his hands in five runs, blasting a grand slam in the second inning.
Eagles scored the first run against Alec Lemmon in the fifth inning, with Michal Zýma‘s solo homerun. It was also the only run American pitcher allowed. On the other hand, home team responded with a run after Tyler Smith’s homerun, and Adam Greš’s hit scored Michal Vykoukal. Additionally, Vykoukal only needed triple to reach Cycle in the game. Unfortunately for him, the game ended after seven innings on mercy rule.
Arrows took a dominant win in the first game of the series. They will play next game at 13:00 in Arrows Park on Saturday.

The game between Draci Brno and Sokol promised a good pitching duel and home Omar Conoropo and away William Parsons both delivered. The fans didn’t need to wait long for the first run, which came after Parsons’ balk.
Omar Conoropo didn’t let himself be pressured, however, in the sixth inning Martin Mužík scored a solo homerun and the score was leveled. Draci didn’t take long to respond, after Eugene Helder sent Martin Schneider home in the following half of the inning.
And it was Schneider, who was tasked to keep Draci alive in the last 6 outs of the game. He was only one strike away, when Michal Soukup’s hit bounced of the edge of the grass, confusing Jakub Hajtmar and Sokol leveled the score.
Vojtěch Vlach then stepped on the mound for Hluboká in the ninth inning. He face the bottom half of Draci lineup, but was unable to get the game to extra innings. Martin Kalábek, helped by error by Vasil Zhupanin, got to the second base. Jakub Hajtmar the got RBI and sent Kalábek home, giving his team the first win in the series.
