NExl: Series wins for Technika and Blesk
Extraliga wasn’t the only baseball played in the country. Promotion league continued as well and both series finished 2-0.
Olympia Blansko – Technika Brno 2-5
Technika Brno – Olympia Blansko 5-4
Blansko entered the series knowing they would be demoted by the end of season. On the other hand Technika played the first game in Promotion League and wins had potential to energize the team for the rest of the season. Both games were close. In the first, Technika grabbed the lead in the third inning, but they lost it in the fourth inning thanks to triple from Daiki Tomita, who scored in two runners. However, visitors sent Javon Rigsby on the mound and new pitcher didn’t allow any runs for the remainder of the game, while dealing 10 SO. Blansko loss came, similar to previous losses, after a defensive error.
The second game looked much better from Olympia point of view. In the second inning Blansko was 3-0 ahead, however, Technika scored five runs in next three innings taking the lead. Blansko responded with a solo homerun from Vojtěch Pomazal in the eight inning, but this wasn’t enough and Technika took the second game as well. This also marked seventh lost game for Blansko.
Pelikans Bučovice – Blesk Jablonec 1-13 (7 inn.)
Blesk Jablonec – Pelikans Bučovice 6-5
Mother nature made sure the series between Jablonec and Bučovice would move from northern Bohemia to Moravia and would be played as a doubleheader, when Saturday game got postponed. Nevertheless, both games finished with the win for Extraliga team. Jablonec decided the first game in the second inning, after they scored seven runs. Their starter Anthony Jacob Fell only allowed 1 run in five innings. Since Blesk added more runs, the game finished on mercy rule after seven innings.
The second game was much closer. Pelikans were able to get 4-0 lead after Filip Fabia and Yasser Tellez scored solo homeruns in the first and third inning. But Jablonec only needed one inning to level the game. The score didn’t change till the ninth inning, when Tellez added his second HR and gave Bučovice the lead. Jan Svoboda needed to hold his team’s lead, but this wasn’t meant to be. Blesk loaded the bases with one out, only for Lukáš Roubíček to be hit by pitch a moment later. Afterwards, Zděněk Machačka added a walk-off hit and Jablonec could celebrate the series win.
