EXL: Draci Brno kept the lead to win the first game of Czech Series 2021
The finale of Extraliga begun on Friday once again pitting Arrows Ostrava against Draci Brno. And as it’s common with the two teams, it was a battle till the last pitch.
If you came to MBS after the first inning, you missed the only runs scored by the home team. Draci managed to load the bases against Ondřej Satoria and after hit from Přemek Chroust, Martin Kalábek and walk by Pavel Budský Draci went ahead 3-0.
Visitors had to wait a while to find a way to beat Radim Chroust, earning the first hit in the fourth inning. Draci starter threw seven innings without run allowed, racking up 7 SO. David Mergans came for him in the eight inning and he remained there till the ninth, when he was substituted after walking the first batter he faced. Draci sent in Omar Conoropo. However, even he wasn’t able to stop Arrows and after singles from Brett Holtz and Petr Čech visitors loaded bases without an out.
Martin Schneider stepped on the mound to save the situation. And he started excellently, striking out two batters he faced. However, then came the hit from Martin Šmoldas, after which Arrows scored two runs. Petr Čech hustled to get the equalizer but he was tagged out close to the home base.
Draci won the first game of Czech Series, which will now move to Ostrava.
