EXL: Hroši announced Extraliga champion Tyler Smitha
Extraliga team Hroši Brno continue to strengthen during the off season. And it is for the second time they went to fish to Ostrava, this time signing South African Tyler Smith.
Smith was an unknown for most Czech fans before the start of 2021 season, but he entered the league with a bang. In the regular season he had BA .457, which was the second best performance in the league. But there were other statistics where he finished first, such as oWAR (2.0), OBP (.594), SLG (.771) and OPS (1.365). In Top 6 and playoff he finished first in triples (3). Arrows fans may be disappointed Tyler signed for the opposition, but South African explained his decision with a desire to explore. “I enjoyed this season and I would like to explore the whole of Czech Republic. Looking at 2021 oWAR, provided by baseball-stat.cz, it is obvious that Hroši Brno will have three of the best offensive players in their core. If Michal Ondráček were to reconsider his decision to leave A-team their offensive power could increase even more. But will it be enough for Hroši to finally reach the semifinals?
