First League: Venezuelan Ángel Vílchez will strengthen Jablonec
It would seem that Jablonec doesn’t take the preparation for the following season lightly. In a short time span they announced the second foreign player.
Ángel Vílchez will wear jersey for Blesk this year. In the past, the pitcher signed a contract with Pittsburgh Pirates, however, he didn’t get far in their minors system, when he only played for their teams in Venezuela and Dominican Republic. Altogether, he threw 197.1 innings with 2.96 ERA.
In the past couple of years Vílchez played primarily in Colombian league. He also played for Colombia in Caribbean Series 2021 and was at the roster in World Baseball Classic qualification. In 2016 he won a bronze medal at South American Championship. In the previous year, he was supposed to play for Alphas de España in European Superleague, which unfortunately didn’t start.
