Czechs will open European Championship against Great Britain
The official schedule for 2022 European Women’s Baseball Championship was published at the official WBSC pages. The championship, which takes place between 3rd and 6th of August in French Montpelier, will start with a game between Czech Republic and the newcomers from the Great Britain at 12:00 local time.
Due to a short length of the tournament the schedule itself will be very condensed. Each of the teams will play three games during three days in the group stage. After the Great Britain, Czechs will face a tough opponent in the current European champions France. The game will be played on Thursday at 17:00 local time, which could give the team a bit more time to catch a breath.
The last game of the group stage for the Czechs will be against Netherlands, on Friday at 12:00.
Similar to 2019 Championship, there will be no games between the third and fourth team. Instead, first two teams from the group will play for the win in the tournament, which will be played on Saturday at 13:00. European Championship serves as a qualification tournament for the Women’s World Cup, which is now scheduled to take place in 2023 (group stage) and 2024 (finals). The previous edition of the World Cup, scheduled for 2020 in Mexican Tijuana, was cancelled due to Covid pandemic and the new host for the upcoming World Cup is yet to be announced.
