EU: Great performance from Czech pitchers
There were two Czech players playing in European competitions in the previous week. Jan Tomek didn’t play in German Bundesliga for Legionäre this time.
Jiří Vavruša played in Austrian Bundesliga for ASAK Athletics. He played in the first game of a doubleheader when he entered in the ninth inning while his team was 5-0 ahead. Czech pitcher didn’t allow any of his opponents on base and he striked out two batters.
We could see David Mergans playing a reliever in Italian Serie B, when he entered the game in the sixth inning for his Milano 1946 while his team was 0-3 behind. Young pitcher did his job excellently, not allowing any hits or walks. Since his teammates managed to come back from behind Mergans earned his first win of the season.
