EU: Jiří Vavruša earned his first win in Austrian league
Czech pitcher in Europe continued for their teams in the previous weekend. Jiří Vavruša, in Austrian league, had the most success.
A rivalry game between Guggenberg and Heidenheim was to be seen in German Bundesliga. Legionäre won the first game 3-2 and the second one ended in the same reason, this time for Heidenheim. Jan Tomek played for Legionäre in the second game. He stepped on the mound in the seventh inning, while his team was 1-2 behind. In the end he only allowed one run in three innings, but even that wasn’t enough to get the win.
Jiří Vavruša played for ASAK Athletics in Austrian Bundesliga. This time as a starting pitcher, he had a good outing, where he didn’t allow any runs in seven inning and earned the win in the end. He wasn’t so successful in the offense, however, as he didn’t get any hits from 4 AB.
It is becoming something of a tradition to see David Mergans play for Italian Serie B team Milano 1946. He played as a reliever, substituting Ernesto Garavito in the seventh inning while the score was 8-2. Mergans closed the game, despite opposing batters scoring two runs against him in the ninth inning. He now has ERA 4.70 after five games.
