EXL: Arrows won against Tempo and keep their hopes for the third spot alive
The first of three postponed games was played in Ostrava on Friday. The home team showed a dominant performance and won against Tempo in the end.
Watching the first two innings, no one would guess the game would end early as both pitchers kept their opponents scoreless. Everything changed in the third inning, when Filip Smola opened the score with a solo homerun. This, however, awoken home bats as well, and Ostrava scored 7 runs in the bottom half of the inning. Despite a decisive lead, they almost lost it in the next half inning, which Lukavský a Nepomucký opened with homeruns. Tempo scored 5 runs and ended the top of the third inning only one run behind Arrows.
However, Ostrava didn’t lose anything from their momentum. Daniel Černý’s grand slam increased the lead to 11-6. Home team then build up their lead and the game ended prematurely due to the mercy rule.
Since this game wasn’t important when it came to determining who would play in TOP 6, both teams played younger players. Adam Cyprian from Tempo earned his first Extraliga hit. Dominik Marani, Jan Čižko and Jan Kozel all played their first Extraliga game too.
Both team will now play each other on Saturday. If Ostrava were to win, they might end up third in the regular season.
