EXL: Tempo won the last game of the regular season

The 2022 Extraliga regular season finished on Sunday with a derby between Tempo and Eagles. Tempo won once again, sweeping Eagles.

However, it was the visitors who had more hits, outhitting Tempo 16 to 6. Unfortunately, Eagles also made 5 errors and it caused them the victory. But it didn’t look all doom and gloom at the beginning. First, after hit from Marek Slabý and run from their new signing Scott Mullhearn, Eagles took 1-0 lead. They further increased it in the fourth inning to 2-0.

However, Eagles sent in another new signing Mareka Červenka, instead of up to that point dominant Andrew Grieder, who only allowed 1 hit and had 5 SO. Červenka started his debut in white-and-green with two quick outs, but then he started to struggle with his control and had to be substituted by David Wilson. By that time Tempo tied the score.

Wilson wasn’t doing much better, allowing 5 runs in three innings and he was substituted for Martin Červenka in the seventh inning. Červenka had his pitching career in Extraliga. In the game itself, he played in four different positions (catcher, infielder, pitchers, short stop). However, it was Marek Slabý, who had 5 hits from 5 AB, who was the start of the game.

With the win, Tempo finished with the record 13-8 and took the second spot in the regular season. Eagles had 2 wins less.
