PBW: Czechs beat Greece to start the tournament

Czech national team played their first game at Prague Baseball Week on Wednesday. It was also the first game for the new manager Pavel Chadim. In the end, national team was able to beat Greece.

Czechs started the game quickly, when a homerun from the leadoff Milan Prokop scored the first run. They then increased the lead in the third inning, with an RBI from Martin Pernička.

Tomáš Duffek kept Greeks scoreless in the first four innings. Unfortunately, Czech defense made three errors in a row in the fifth inning, which meant the first Greek run. Furthermore, the run seemed to lift Greek spirit.

Fortunately for Czech Filip Smola scored another run with a solo homerun in the seventh inning. An inning later Czechs took advantage of bad pitching and scored four runs and they increased their lead to 6 runs.

Jake Rabinowitz then came in the ninth inning and closed the game. Czechs started the tournament with 7-1 win. They will continue on Thursday at 16:30 when they face Old World Baseball, that lost 4-13 to Spain.
