PBW: Czechs on the winning side in the game against Old World Baseball

After winnings against Greece, Czech national team faced their second opponent at Prague Baseball Week on Thursday and they were able to get another win. This time it was against Old World Baseball.

The fans had to wait till the second inning to see the first runs of the game. Jakub Hajtmar scored a solo homerun to give Czechs the lead. Filip Smola then followed his example in the fourth inning, scoring his second homerun in the tournament.

Czechs bats started swinging even more in the fifth inning as they built a decisive lead with 5 runs. They could also lean on their pitchers. Starter Filip Čapka only allowed on run in five innings. Reliever trio Lukáš Hlouch, David Mergans and Jan Tomek didn’t allow any runs in the remaining innings and Czechs got to celebrate their second win of the tournament.

They will now play against Spain at Eagles Park on Friday to determine the winner of Group A.
