EXL: Jakub Malík historically the fifth player with 100 homeruns
Arrows Ostrava experienced player and a long-term national team member Jakub Malík reached two historical milestones with only one hit. He earned his 100th homerun, which also brought 600th RBI, in the bottom half of the second inning.
Malík’s hit came as his team was 0-2 behind against Hroši Brno, who had Lukáš Ercoli on the mound. Malík waited for the second pitch of the inning before blasting it behind the fence at Arrows Park. His 100th HR marked him as only the fifth player in Extraliga history to reach the milestone. He is also only one of two active players who has more than 100 HR in their career.

At the same time, the HR meant his 600th RBI. He became only the fourth player in Extraliga history to reach 600 RBI. He’s currently missing 9 RBI to be level with his Ostrava teammate Aleš Navrátil. Technika Brno’s legend Martin Střítecký has 608 RBI and is currently at the third spot. However, Střítecký finished his playing career.
