CBC: Arrows Ostrava are one step closer to the final

This year’s semifinals of Czech Baseball Cup started on Friday in Prague with a game between Eagles Praha and visitors from Ostrava.

Pitchers had an advantage over batter in the cold weather. Furthermore, both teams started their aces on the mound, as Eagles sent in Tomáš Duffek and Arrows relied on Boris Bokaj.

Fans had to wait until the fourth inning to see the first run scored, when Šimon Blažek scored in Martin Červenka. However, this was the only run Bokaj allowed. Tomáš Duffek did even better, as he didn’t allow any runs in seven innings.

After a substitution, Arrows took advantage of a new pitcher, as Matyáš Trčka came in for Duffek. They were able to load the bases against the new pitcher, for Aleš Navrátil to give Arrows 2-1 lead.

The score remained unchanged till the bottom of the ninth inning. Visitors started it with Matyáš Pjontek, who was only able to get one out and walked 2 batters. Arrows decided to make another change and Ondřej Satoria came to close the game. National team player handled Petr Zýma and Martin Červenka and ensure the win for his team.

Ostrava took 1-0 lead in the series before the Saturday game, where they can get their spot in the final. The second game will be played at 13:00, and the third game on Saturday at 16:00, in case it’s needed.
