College Baseball: Another great week for Padyšák and Chlup
College baseball continues overseas and we once again look at how Czechs performed.
Charleston Southern University didn’t start their season well, after they lost three games against Florida. But they were able to get back on track in the previous week, when they won three out of four games. This was also thanks to Czech pitcher Daniel Padyšák, who threw 5 innings for CSU against The Citadel. Padyšák only allowed 3 hits and striked out 6 batters. His team won 4-1, giving the young Czech his first win of the season. He played against on Sunday, this time against Marshall, where he once again pitched well, throwing 4 innings with 3 hits and 5 SO, but without allowing any runs. After 6-1 win Padyšák also got his first Save of the season and it would seem he has a good form at the beginning of the season.
The North Greenville winning streak was snapped after 13 games due to Francis Marion University. Marek Chlup keeps having a lion share in the team’s success who played all 4 games, adding 6 hits, one of which was a homerun. Czech now has BA .528 and SLG 1.083. Based on the stats, Chlup is currently the team’s best batter, which comes as a welcomed news for the Czech national team coaches.
Martin Zelenka, playing for Pitt Community College, only played one game in the previous week. Pitt lost the game against Brunswick Community (13-22), but Zelenka had a BB and an RBI. Pitt currently has 9 wins and 2 losses after 11 games.
Tomáš Říčný played two games for Northeastern Junior College, both against Miles Community College. In the first, he had 1 H to help his team to 6-5 win. In the end, he was unable to get any hits and his team lost 6-10.
Marcus Weinzimmer plays for Barbara City College this year. He played 5 out 12 games, with BA .214. His best game was against West LA, where he had 1 H, 3 BB, and 3 R.
