College Baseball: Zelenka’s first homerun. NGU still unbeaten
Another week of college baseball is wrapped and a few of Czech players were in action.
North Greenville University, with Czech national team player Marek Chlup, continued their winning streak. Czech outfielder only played 2 out of 4 games. First, he had 3 hits against Emory & Henry, helping NGU to 12-7 win. Saturday matchup against Mississippi College was much closer and it looked liked NGU would lose their first game of the season, as they were 7-11 behind at the beginning of the bottom half of the ninth inning. However, NGU managed to load the bases, followed by a run. Then Marek Chlup came to the plate, and his hit helped to score 2 runs. A moment later John Faille cleared the based and got his walk-off hit.
Pitt Community College, with Martin Zelenka, finally got to play their first competitive games this year. Their opponent was Bryant & Stratton. Czech player was part of the roster in all the games and he once again made sure people remembered him. He had a hit in each game. In the second one, he earned two run walk-off homerun and wrapped up the score at 9-8.
Tomáš Říčný played for Northeastern University 4 times already. He currently has 2 hits from 4 AB. Both came against Arizona Western College. Unfortunately, his team is not doing well as they were unable to win any of their 5 games.
