EXL: Pavel Jozek Jr. „signed up“ to the best rookie contest
If you were betting for the past 6 games, on who would be Třebíč’s best batter, you probably guessed names such as Ryan Johnson, Kamil Pejchal, or similar. However, the batting table is currently reigned by only 16 year old Pavel Jozek.
Young Nuclears batter add Junior to his name, to avoid confusion, as his father Pavel also played baseball for a long time. It would seem that young Jozek could get much further than his dad, however. Especially if he keeps his current level of progression. He played 6 games so far and he already has more hits than in his first season (2022). Out of 9 hits, 6 were extra base hits that Jozek Jr. used to get 7 RBI.
It would seem that winter training really worked out for the youngster. „All youngsters made mile steps in the winter. He’s one of the guys who was asked to do a lot for his age and he grabbed the opportunity. In only 6 games so far you can see him growing in the offense. It’s fun to watch,“ said Třebíč manager Jeffrey Barto about young player’s progress.
Naturally, with every talent fans could ask, whether this is the player to get a chance to play professionally. „We have a long way ahead, before we start talking about Czech teenagers playing professional baseball. The most important is to understand what are the requirements and expectations, if that’s their final goal. Of course it’s possible for some of them, but the should focus on being the best college baseball players,“ Barto halts the expectations after our question.
If the young player continues in his performance in the upcoming rounds, he will make a strong case for the Rookie of the Year award.
