EXL: Třebíč won in Ostrava. Draci beat Technika

Two more Extraliga games were played on a cold Thursday evening. These went better for home teams.

Technika Brno – Draci Brno 5-8

Draci took the first lead in Brno derby, despite being the away team in the game. Milan Prokop opened the second inning with a hit, that allowed him to reach the third base. The fans in YD Baseball Arena were witness to an unfortunate moment, when Radek Burian hit Tomáš Chadim to helmet with his pitch. This meant the end of the game for the young player. Startled Burian then threw a wild pitch and Prokop scored the first run.

Draci added two more runs in the fourth inning, thanks to an error from Technika and were leading 3-0. Václav Tauš was having a good day on the mound for 4 innings. However, then came the fifth inning and everything changed. Technika got their momentum in the offense and they forced Tauš to get out of the game, who was substituted by Tomáš Urbánek.

The score changed once again in the seventh inning. Technika manager kept Burian on the mound despite pitcher having 100 pitches thrown. Draci took advantage of the situation and forced Technika’s substitution. Dominik Polgár came on the mound, who is currently in Technika on loan from Draci. He stopped Draci offense for a bit, but he could only turn around to watch Mendoza’s 3 run homerun in the ninth inning.

This turned out to be decisive, as Technika pushed through in the ninth inning and changed the score to 8-5 with 2 runs. They didn’t score more runs and Draci took the win. Their series continue on Friday and Saturday at the same field.

Arrows Ostrava – Třebíč Nuclears 3-5

The game in Ostrava started 30 mins later and freezing cold in northern Moravia didn’t promise an enjoyable game to the pitcher. Home starter Alexandr Šín started well as he kept his opponents scoreless for 5 innings. Home team, on the other hand, scored against Ryan Johnson in the second inning, when Mário Gottschall scored in Jakub Malík.

Nuclears could have a much tougher of an outing in the fourth inning, when Arrows loaded the bases with no outs. But Ostrava was only able to get a run out of the situation.

Třebíč got the best of Arrows in the sixth inning. First, Ryan Johnson tied the score with his first homerun of the season, followed by Pavel Jozek ml. whose double added the third run. Kamil Pejchal then sent him home.

Třebíč added another run in the seventh inning which was scored by a new face in their team Russel Strilchuk, as they took 5-2 lead.

Nuclears sent Lukáš Pacal on the mound for the seventh inning. Home team was able to score a run in the eighth inning and they were thinking of comeback in the ninth.

Ostrava sent in Marko Vykoukal who had a swift inning with 8 pitches. In the bottom half of the inning Pacal needed 9 pitches for the first batter alone, and even he got on base thanks to a walk. Home team loaded the bases and scored a run, but Pacal didn’t allow them more and he finished the game with his 6th K in the game.

Třebíč won the first game of the series and will have an advantage of a home field for the reminder of the series.
