Czech youngster finished on Little League main tournament
Little League tournament is currently taking place in Williamsport, USA. After nine years, Czech team manage to take part in it, too.
Region South, who qualified to the tournament from their region, played their first game against Panama. While Panama has a much wider player base, Czechs were able to keep up with the team for the first half of the game, where the score remained tied at 0-0. Unfortunately, Omar Vargas blasted a grand slam in the fourth inning and decided the final score of the game. Czechs were unable to find a way to bat against Panama’s pitcher and in the end lost 0-4.
Czechs thus moved to Loser bracket and had to face another tough opponent, Canada. This game was close for a long time, as Kryštof Šilar striked out his opponents. His defense also helped him a couple of times. Especially Denis Ondroušek (his older brother Daniel plays for Hroši) caught an eye of ESPN commentators. However, Canada showed their quality and took the lead with three runs. Czechs were unable to respond and the game finished 0-3.
Arnošt Nesňal team thus finished on the tournament, but the remain on the site to enjoy MLB Little League Classic game on Sunday, where Phillies face Nationals.
