U18 WC: Czechs beat Spain to earn their second win
After a game against Mexico got delayed, young Czechs played another game at U18 World Cup on Thursday. This time against Spain in Placement Group.
Czechs could once again rely on a good performance from their pitchers. Trio Viktor Beránek, Filip Kollmann and Matyáš Trčka didn’t allow any runs to Spain and they striked out 7 batters.
The offense also started early, after leadoff Bejamin Morgan got on base and later reached the home base thanks to Michal Šindelka.
The bottom half of the fourth inning went even better. First, Jakub Winkler scored a run after a wild pitch from Benjamin Morgan to bat in two runs thanks to a double.
In the end, Czechs won 4-0 and currently hold 2-0 record in the Placement Group. They will continue at 6:30 CEST against Panama on Friday.
