Czechs lost 5-7 to Tenerife

Czech national team played at Tenerife against the local team Marlins on Saturday as a part the team’s preparation.

Pavel Chadim’s team started the game well after they pressed the home pitcher in the first half inning. Czechs loaded the bases without an out and scored two runs.

However, the bottom half of the inning took the lead. The second man in the lineup blasted a two run homerun and tied the game for Joel Borges to manufacture two more runs with his hit moments later.

Czech starter Jan Kozel remained on the mound for only 4 outs and was then substituted by Filip Kollmann who threw two innings, where he allowed a run which was unearned. Marlins then added the sixth run in the fifth inning while Štěpán Dupal was on the mound.

The young team scored again in the sixth inning, when Šimon Blažek reached the home based after a passed ball.

Tomáš Urbánek stepped on the mound in the seventh inning and he let the first batter on a base, who later, thanks to another defensive error, reached the home base for the seventh Marlins run.

Czechs pushed in the offense in the eighth inning and once again loaded the bases without an out. After Jakub Winkler’s hit and a walk to Ben Morgan they scored two more runs.

Filip Čapka came to pitch in the eighth inning and he kept Marlins without runners. Czechs were unable to add more runs in the following inning and in the end they lost 5-7 to Marlins.

Pavel Chadim’s team plays one more game against the same opponent on Sunday.
