NSA picked baseball among 30 priority sports in the Czech Republic
National Sport Agency announced a couple of weeks ago it would pick 30 sport organizations which will benefit from increased support. We can now get excited as baseball became one of the thirty.
NSA looked at different criteria, such as the sport’s success on international and local scene, community responsibility, attractivity, player base, etc. This means that baseball, along with the other 29 sports, splits extra 100 to 200 million of CZK.
„We tried to find a common system which would be fair to everyone and would reflect the real value of the sporting environment. Finding the criteria was a long and demanding process, but we believe they are fair. As I mentioned before the prioritizing will be updated after some time, so that the sports are motivated to work on their continual improvement,“ said chairman NSA Ondřej Šebek at the press conference.
Based on the statement from NSA baseball could be looking forward to increased support in the years to come. „Czech state supported more than 100 sports through different programs in the past. But especially with the national teams and youth it is important to invest the resources deliberately. That’s why different levels of the sports are created and the first 30 of them will be supported with priority. The financial impact won’t be huge at the beginning, it all depends on the county’s budget. But we would to increase our support for these sports in the future,“ said Šebek.
