Pavel Chadim finished second in Coach of the Year poll of Czech Olympic Committee

Czech Olympic Committee awards the best coaches ever year. The same happened this year and we can be excited for Czech baseball, as Czech national team coach Pavel Chadim was a part of it.

The announcement of the winners was a bit unusual, as it took part during a theatrical performance. Representatives of the committee announced the winners for the individual and team sports, the newcomer of the year, parasport coach, and new Hall of Famers. Pavel Chadim finished second in the team sports category, after Italian Andrea Tomatis, who coaches beach volleyball duo Perušič-Schweiner, and won the gold medal at the World Championship in Mexico. The third place went to hockey coach Radim Rulík.

“It is a great honor for the Czech baseball, to even be in TOP 3 among the coaches from all sports,” said the national team coach. “I don’t know how many times an American sport gets to go this far in the heart of Europe, where nets and goals are dominating. I take it as a great acknowledgment.”

The awards are voted by the coaches across the sports, united under the Union of Professional Coaches. As added by Pavel Chadim, baseball is not represented. “There are 140 coaches from 40 different sports who vote. To catch an interest of professionals across the sports is crazy as it is. Baseball doesn’t have a single vote, and despite this we won the second place,” adds Chadim. This is the second award for him in a short timespan. He was also awarded the Coach of the Year award by Czech Baseball Association in the fall.
