College Baseball: O’Rourke’s Diablo Valley finally won
This review of college baseball is for a time the last where we look at only one player. The next week will see college leagues with hopefully several Czechs start.
Nicolas O’Rourke played three out of four Diablo Valley games. On Tuesday he played against Hartnell, where he played as a reliever. He entered the game in the fifth inning while Diablo was 4-2 ahead. O’Rourke kept his opponents scoreless and his teammates then increased the lead to 5-2 in the following inning. Czech player started the bottom of the sixth inning with a strikeout, but he then let two batters on the bases and was substituted. Hartnell kept the momentum, however, and took the lead with seven runs in the sixth inning. In the end, Diablo lost 5-12. Two days later, Diablo hosted Solano and O’Rourke came in the seventh inning, this time in the left outfield. He didn’t have any hits from 2 AB and his team lost 2-13.
Diablo Valley stopped their losing streak on Friday after they beat Solano 7-6. However, O’Rourke didn’t play in this game. Young Czech then got his chance on Saturday against Marin, where he pitched the fourth inning. He kept his opponent scoreless, however, he walked two batters and allowed a hit. His teammates were able to take the lead in the eighth inning and won 6-5.
