EXL: Hroši Brno signed a pitcher with MLB and NPB experience
Hroši Brno announced a very interesting signing in Japanese pitcher Toru Murata. In the past he played in the two best leagues in the world – North American MLB and Japanese NPB.
Thirty eight year old Murata has a great career. He started in the minors Japanese league, for him to sign a contract with Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) in 2011. He even played an MLB game in Cleveland. There he threw 3.1 innings, and allowed 3 runs. He then returned to Japan in 2016 and played 5 years in NPB for Nippon Ham Fighters. He threw 210.1 innings in Japanese top league with ERA 3.46 and 135 SO.
The previous two seasons he played in Australian ABL in winter, where he won the title in 2024 with Adelaide Giants. He played in Europe for the first time in the previous season, when he joined German champions. There he played in Champions Cup and earned a win against Dutch HCAW, where he threw 5 innings and only allowed 1 run. He dominated German Bundesliga with ERA 0.82 in 33 innings. He also added 25 SO and only had 5 BB.
