EXL: Arrows, Hroši and Nuclears tied the series

There were 4 games planned for Saturday in Extraliga, but with them already finished, we are yet to know a series winner for any of them.

After losing on Friday, Ostrava managed to tie the series on Saturday. This was no small thanks to Ondrěj Satoria who started the season in a good form. He only allowed 4 hits and no runs in 7 innings he pitched. Afterwards, Arrows, maybe surprisingly, sent Jan Tomek to finish the game. He didn’t allow Draci much and kept his opponents scoreless.

Visiting Filip Čapka kept up with the opposing pitchers for 3 innings. However, in the bottom half of the fourth inning hosts scored 4 runs and they created a solid lead. Arrows then increased their lead to 5-0 an inning later. The score remained unchanged until the last out, which helped Arrows to tie the series. The winner will be decided on Sunday in Brno

Hroši vendetta

Hroši were dealt a huge defeat on Friday and they had something to think about in the second game of the series. They decided to start with Tomáš Ondra on the mound and they added a solid offense to that. Brno team was ahead by 4 runs in the second inning after a hit from Tyler Smith and a homerun by Daniel Ondrouška. Eagles didn’t give up, however, and Lukáš Derganz called for a comeback in the third inning with a two run homerun, and fifth inning save the score tied at 4-4.

But since then it was only the hosts who scored runs. It was especially Tyler Smith, who had 4 hits and 5 RBI. In the end, it was only a homerun the South African missed to a full Cycle. Martin Červenka also blasted a base clearing double in the eighth inning to set the final score to 12-4.

John Hussey played the game as a reliever and he threw 4.2 scoreless innings, with 8 strikeouts.

This series will also be decided on Sunday in Brno.

Tempo beat Kotlářka

The Prague derby between Tempo and Kotlářka went better for the visitors. Kotlářka was only able to score 3 runs, while Tempo already scored 4 in the fifth inning. Hosts scored only then when Matyáš Fous blasted a two run homerun. Both teams scored a run in the ninth inning, which wrapped the Tempo win at 5-3. The series will now move to Tempo on Sunday,

Comeback Nuclears

When Třebíč was 1-5 behind against Hluboká things didn’t look good for them. However, hosts only needed two innings and everything changed, all thanks to Ryan Johnson, who batted in two runs and scored the third one himself. He then also blasted a two run homerun in the fourth inning.

Hluboká managed to tie the game at 6-6 in the sixth inning, but Nuclears decided the game with seven more innings in the next two innings. Sokol only adjusted the final score to 13-7 in the ninth inning.

This series is also tied at 1-1 and the winner will be decided on Sunday,
