EXL: Eagles Praha brings American Willie Barcena
Eagles Praha announced another foreign signing on their social networks. It is American Player Willie Barcena.
Twenty nine year old Barcena arrives to Prague as his first time playing in Europe, as he played primarily in USA. He only played outside of the States in fall, moving to Saint Maarten, where he played a short tournament for Amsterdam Pirates. Since 2021 he played mostly in the independent leagues, where he usually played well in the offense. In the previous year he had batting average .303 for Salem Senators. He played even better in Pecos League in 2021, where he played for Wasco Reserves and after 30 games he had BA .352 and OBP .411. He also added 9 HR.
He should play in the outfield in the offense, but he can also play on the second and third base. Eagles present him as an infielder, however.
„We are looking forward to Willie. After two titles in the previous year, he is hungry for the third one and he is ready to improve our excellent lineup and become an important leader for Eagles,“ Eagles cited their manager Michal Müller.
