College Baseball: Pospíšil’s Pitt unsuccessful at post-season tournament
While D1 College Baseball still has two weeks to go, the lower tiers already finished the regular season. And you can once again see how Czech players did.
Daniel Padyšák played on Saturday for Georgia when his school faced South Carolina. He entered the game in the 4th inning and threw 2.1 innings. There he allowed 2 runs, but only one was earned. He also didn’t walk anyone and had 2 strikeouts. Georgia, also thanks to his performance, won 14-6.
Georgia Tech played one game against Auburn, and three against Duke in the previous week. Michal Kovala played in two of them. First, he played against Auburn, where he entered the game in the fifth inning, but he only remained in for 4 pitches. The last one finished as HBP and Kovala was then substituted. The second game he played was the second game against Duke. This time he entered in the ninth inning while his team was 10-12 behind. Unfortunately, Czech didn’t have a good relief appearance, where he only played 2 outs and allowed 4 hits and 2 runs.
Martin Zelenka played 2 games for UNC Wilmington. He played on Tuesday as a DH against Charleston Southern, where he was walked two times and had a run. UNC won the game 12-5. He then played the entire game against Hofstra as a catcher on Sunday. He earned a walk and a run. His team won this game as well, this time 14-3 and they improved their record to 35-17.
Jan Pospíšil and Pitt Community had an important games in NJCAA DII Baseball South Atlantic District Championship. Unfortunately, Pitt didn’t have much success. First, they lost 7-8 to Patrick&Henry in a close game. They then faced Bryant&Stratton in loser bracket, where Pitt was trailing from a get-go and in the end lost 6-14, which finished their hopes and appearance on the tournament. Pospíšil played on the third base in the second game and had a hit and a walk.
