U12 EC: The last game of the Group stage brought a narrow loss to Czechs

The last game of the Group stage at U12 European Championship was also a competition for the first place in the group for Czechs. They faced another team heading for the semifinals, Germany.

Czechs started with Marek Švehla on the mound, who was able to keep his opponents scoreless for two innings. It was his teammates who scored first. At the beginning of the second inning Adam Pavliš manufactured the first run, for Dominik Malý to follow him moments later with a two run homerun.

Unfortunately, the third inning didn’t go well for the youngsters and hosts were able to take the lead with a three run homerun and go to 3-5. Mikuláš Bárta came in on the mound and he was able to pitch the scoreless rest of the game.

Czechs were able to score once more, when Štěpán Švec batted in a run. However, they were unable to tie the game and Germany won 4-5.

This meant Czechs finished second in the group and will face the winner of Group B, Netherlands. The second semifinal will be played between Germany and Italy.
