Czech Republic was awarded wild card for U12 World Cup
A great news came from World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) as they awarded the Czech Republic a wild card for the upcoming U12 World Cup.
Czechs will travel to World Cup in Taiwan along with Mexico and South Africa who too were awarded a wild card. Europe will also be represented by Germany, who won European Championship. The second spot belongs to Netherlands, who declined the participation. WBSC decided to award the freed spot to the Czech Republic.
„Based on the ranking we replaced the Nederlands, but we certainly deserve the spot based on our performance, when we finished only one spot from advancing to the tournament. I think we belong to the World Cup and I’m glad we will represent Europe. We plan to play friendly games against Germany. This tournament is the peak event for the category, so we are really looking forward to it,“ said ČBA chairman Petr Ditrich for our web.
The tournament itself will take place from 25th of July to 3rd of August in Tainan, Taiwan. USA will try to defend the gold medals from 2023, while Czechs will aim to improve their previous 10th place.
