Arrows Ostrava announced their first foreign signing for the upcoming season. The club confirmed on their social network accounts that Brandon Smith will once again wear Ostrava colors.
South African national team player will add the third season in Extraliga. He started as Technika Brno player, where he had BA .313 in 13 games and only 2 strikeouts. After Technika got demoted Smith moved to Ostrava, where he got his BA to .261.
Both teams used him on the mound as well. Smith played in 15 games as a pitcher, but started only 4. He threw 33 innings with ERA 4.36 and 21 strikeouts. He also regularly played the first base.
Beside Brandon, we also got to see his brother Tyler play in Extraliga in the previous seasons. Tyler played for Arrows in 2021 before moving to Hroši. Both brothers met in the nation team this year when they played qualification for World Baseball Classic. And the two brothers had a unique moment against Taiwan when Brandon batted in Tyler. It was the first time a brother’s duo achieved something similar in the tournament.
