Canada opens baseball academy for women
Canada occupies top spots in international women’s baseball ranking for some time. Currently third top world team is, however, not resting up and plans to open new baseball academy in Trois-Rivières in Québec province, that should be opened to women players.
Baseball Academy of Canada (ABC) officially opens in Québec in September 2022, however, there’s already a dozen of players who help to fine-tune the program since September 2021. Patricia Landry, Canadian national player from 2005 to 2010, got reigns of the academy. After the ABC opens, the organizers hope to attract up to 35 players in three years time.
Currently it is not certain where will the players be able to get game experience, as the player pool in Québec is still small. However, the academy is in talks with their partners in Ontario, New York State, and Massachusetts to see if there could be a possible collaboration. For now the players will tour the province to promote ABC, as explained by the general manager of Baseball Québec and the ABC Maxime Lamarche.
