Czechs won their last game before WBC

The last game before WBC awaited Czech national team on Tuesday. Their opponent JR Kyoto Railways beat Australia 15-1 a day before and it was clear Czechs would have their work cut out for them.

The game was tied for a long time, with the first run scored in the fourth inning, after Martin Mužík scored in Marek Chlup. However, bottom half of the inning saw Czech defense produce two errors, which resulted into a tied game. An inning later Kyoto Railways even took the lead, once again after an error.

However, Czechs bats then awakened and added 6 runs in the following two innings. It all started with a double by Eric Sogard. Marek Chlup and Martin Červenka then got on bases as well. All three were subsequently scored by Matěj Menšík and Martin Mužík, for Sogard, Mužík and William Escala to each add an RBI in the following inning.

Marek Chlup then added a two run homerun in the eighth inning to end up being the best batter for the Czech team (3 H).

We also saw several pitchers get their change on the mound. Daniel Padyšák arrived to Japan and we could see him pitching for the first time, as he threw the first inning. Ondřej Satoria then followed with two innings and Jan Tomek also came close to pitching two. Due to pitching limit fifth inning finished prematurely. Jan Novák threw the bottom of the sixth, being substituted by Lukáš Ercoli who added one more inning. Tomáš Duffek and Filip Čapka then closed the game with one inning each.

The defense picked its worse day, as the team made 6 errors altogether.

Czechs will now move to Tokyo where they play the first game of World Baseball Classic. Their game against China will start at 5am CET, who lost their last friendly game against Miyazaki Umeda Gauken 5-7.
