Czechs lost 1-6 to Netherlands in the third game of the friendly series
Czech national team played their third games as a part of Rotterdam Baseball Week. The game was to decide who would win the series.
Czechs started with Jeffrey Barto, who pitched three good, scoreless innings. Filip Čapka then came on the mound instead of him and it was against him that the favorized opponent scored the first runs, when Tromp blasted a solo homerun in the fifth inning.
Tomáš Duffek substituted Čapka in the sixth inning, which Dutch took advantage of and they scored another run. Czech fans got to see their team to score a run, too, when Martin Mužík batted in the first run.
Unfortunately, the next innings saw Dutch score more runs. Štěpán Dupal nor David Mergans were able to cool down hot Dutch batters and their lead improved to 6-1. Czechs were unable to get any runs of their own and they lost to Netherlands for the second time.
Czech fans likely got nervous in the second inning, when Martin Červenka had to be substituted after a hit to the left field. The stream, however, didn’t show he would be hurt in any way.
Czechs will now return back home, where they play two friendly games against Italy. These will be played in Brno on Wednesday, and Thursday.
