Viktor Večerka after a surgery, but should be back this year
The previous time Viktor Večerka played in Extraliga was May 2022. He then signed a contract with a professional club playing in an independent league in USA, however, he didn’t play there at all. His career was halted by an elbow injury and since then we didn’t see Večerka in Czech top tier league. Furthermore, he had to undergo a surgery a few days ago.
He, however, told our page, it was nothing serious. “It was a smaller procedure, which happened here in Brno. There were some complications in the last phase of the rehabilitation, which was the reason why I didn’t play,” he explained the reason for the surgery and his absence in the previous year.
Tommy John surgery which Večerka underwent in 2022 at Great Falls Clinic in Montana is a bogyman for every pitcher, as it means at least a year-long absence from the pitching. Complications extended the recovery period for Večerka, but he believes, he could play in Extraliga. “I believe so, probably not at the beginning of the season, though. I believe I should be ready sometime in the summer,” he added to our questions. Fans can hope the recovery will go as planned and we will see this baseball talent on the mound once again.
