College Baseball: Padyšák and Kovala played against each other
The review of the previous week’s college baseball belongs mostly to the duo Padyšák-Kovala. It was for the first time in the history when two Czech players played against each other in NCAA D1.
To be clear, their team played against each other. Michal Kovala was the first one to come in play in the three game series, where he was part of the first duel. And he had a good game, when he threw 1.2 innings, didn’t allow any hits and only walked 2 batter, while striking out 4. The game has to be paused due to rain in the fifth inning while Padyšák’s school was 9-3 ahead. Georgia Tech wasn’t able to do much better in the second game and they lost both. The third loss came also thanks to Daniel Padyšák, who played as a reliever for Georgia in the third inning. In the end he threw 1.1 innings, where he allowed 1 run (2H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO). His school currently has 10-1 record. On the other hand, Kovala’s Georgia Tech lost their first series of the season and has 7-3 record.
Another Czech player in the top division is Martin Zelenka playing for UNC Wilmington. His team played a series against South Alabama and only won one out of three games, changing their record to 6-6.
Jan Pospíšil in Pitt Community College became a regular in the lineup. He played two games for Bulldogs against Brunswick Community College. In the first game he had 2 walks and 1 run. He then played on the first base in the second game, but he didn’t earn another hit (3 AB, 0 H, 2 SO).
Nicolas O’Rourke played one game against American River for Diablo Valley. He started in the infield, for him to move to the pitching mound. He only threw one out there and allowed a run (0.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 BB). He wasn’t able to add another hit (3 AB, 0 H, 2 SO).
