EXL: Hroši Brno signed Dominican José Acosta
Extraliga team Hroši Brno announced another signing, Dominican José Acosta.
Thirty year old Dominican Republic player comes to bolster Brno team’s bullpen. Between 2020 and 2021 Acosta played for Chiba Lotte Mariners organization, where he played 2 season in their farm team, but in the end he didn’t make it to NPB. He caught Mariners interest on the tryout in Dominican Republic, where he averaged 157 km/h on his fastball. He threw 52.1 IP in Eastern League for Mariners, with ERA 4.99 and 39 SO. In 2022 he then played in the independent Mexican league for Leon, where he played 3 games and threw 9.2 innings, allowing 14 runs. He had a much more success in the winter league in Nicaragua, where he played two seasons for Gigantes, and threw 44.1 innings, with ERA 4.47 and 59 SO.
