College Baseball: Three Czech at one tournament

We have to start the review of College Baseball in USA with the most interesting news. One of the regional NCAA tournaments is hosted by Georgia, for whom Daniel Padyšák plays. But that’s not all, Georgia Tech with Michal Kovala and UNCW with Martin Zelenka will also take part.

The tournament starts on 31st of May with two games. In the first Georgia plays Army. The second one will see Georgia Tech play UNC Wilmington. Two Czech players will also play each other on Friday. Georgia Tech last faced UNCW on a tournament in 1987 and their historical record is tied, when each team has 2 wins.

Georgia Tech and Georgia know each other much better, with a much better win record going to Georgia, who won 219 games and lost 168 of them.

The tournament is played as double elimination and the winner will advance to Super Regional. Hence, there is a huge chance we get to see another Czech player in the next tournament.

In the previous week Georgia played one game at SEC Tournament, where they lost to LSU 1-9. Padyšák threw 21 innings where he allowed 1 hit and walked 3, with 1 run and 2 SO.

Georgia Tech played 2 games at ACC Tournament. In the first game they lost 9-12 to Florida State and in the second one they won 0-13 against Virginia. Michal Kovala didn’t get to play.

UNC Wilmington played 3 games at CAA Championship, where they beat Delaware 10-6 and College of Charleston 8-5 and 6-4. Martin Zelenka didn’t get a chance to play.
