Draci entered Champions Cup with a win. Eagles outclassed

Draci and Eagles played their first games in Champions Cup on Wednesday, but Czech fans could only celebrate the game in Brno.

Eagles entered the game against Heidenheim with a successful hit from Michal Antoň. Back then few could know this would be the only hit for Eagles for a while. Prague starter Natsuki Tamba kept the opponents scoreless for only two innings. German batters found their stride in the bottom half of the third inning and took a 2-0 lead. Coaches substituted Tamba and Heidenheim kickstarted their offense. Everything started against Vasko Kolev, who was unable to get any outs and had to be substituted by Emmanuel Herrera. Home team scored against him and William Germain finished the eight run inning with a three run homerun.

With increased rain in the sixth inning increased the lead of the hosts until they led 13-0. Eagles sent Tadeáš Zavadil on the mound to stop the game from finishing early. He stopped German bats with a strikeout and Eagles got a chance to do something about the result in the seventh inning since home team substituted well pitching Jared Mortensen from the mound, with national team pitcher Mike Bolsenbroek coming in for him. Marek Slabý welcomed him with the second Eagles hit, but German pitcher then struck out two and finished the game.

Prague team finished the first game in Champions Cup with 0-13 loss in seven innings. Czech fans could at least see Daniel Vavruša catching the entire game for the hosts. Czech catcher also finished with a hits and an RBI.

Draci started Jose Medina against Regensburg. Their opponents relied on Scott Harkin and it was a pitching duel for a long time in YD Arena. Fans had to wait till the fourth inning to see the first run after Alex Monsalve hit a solo homerun. Draci scored against in the seventh inning thanks to Martin Kalábek. Brno’s right fielder started the inning with a double and reached the third and home bases after wild pitches.

Draci had pitching working well for them. Starter Medina threw 5 innings, where he only allowed 2 hits and no runs. Filip Čapka then followed up with an inning and Jhenderson Hurtado added 3 more, all keeping the game scoreless for the visitors. Thanks to this performance Draci won 2-0 against Regensburg.

The European competition will now take a break for 3 weeks with the next round being played at the beginning of June. Draci will travel to Heidenheim and Eagles will host Regensburg.
